The Company

We are currently partnering with a trusted main contractor specialising in the residential sector. Their expertise spans mixed-tenure housing developments, multi-sector residential solutions, and comprehensive building safety remediation works, including assessment, recladding, and internal refurbishment. Although recently established, the company has achieved remarkable growth, having already secured 80% of its projected 2026 turnover. With a strong pipeline and expanding client base, they are on track to reach a £50 million turnover by 2028.

The Role

They are now seeking to recruit an experienced, proactive Design Manager to join their team and assist in the delivery of various contracts for a number of clients across the country. The majority of work currently is based around fire safety remediation on both Non-HRB and HRB buildings and the role will be based at their office in East London with site visits as and when required.

Person Specification:

  • Main contractor experience preferred (working with external designers/clients essential), refurbishment, remediation experience would be required
  • A good understanding of Fire Safety remediation, the PAS9980 / FRAEW process
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of the HRB Regime, gateway processes and obligations
  • Good knowledge and experience of the ‘standard’ regulatory regime(s) outside the gateway process

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and coordinate the design process from tender through to project completion
  • Work closely with external design teams, consultants, and clients to ensure design intent, compliance, and buildability
  • Oversee design documentation in line with project timelines and regulatory requirements
  • Support fire safety remediation projects, ensuring compliance with PAS9980 and FRAEW processes
  • Liaise with site teams to provide design input and resolve technical issues
  • Ensure designs meet the requirements of the HRB Regime and associated Gateway processes
