Divisional Manager – Social Housing & Public Sector Refurbishment, Retrofit & Building Safety Location: London Area The Opportunity We are working in partnership with a leading UK main contractor with a strong presence. Since their inception, the business has built an exceptional reputation for delivering complex construction projects while developing long-term client relationships that have secured a substantial order book and strong pipeline of future work. This opportunity sits within a highly successful division, delivering a broad range of building safety, refurbishment, fire remediation, retrofit and regeneration projects across both public and private sector clients. Working with local authorities, housing associations and residential providers, the division plays a key role in improving existing housing stock and delivering safer, more sustainable communities. Due to continued growth and the successful award of major frameworks, they are seeking an experienced Divisional Manager to provide strategic leadership across a portfolio of projects and operational teams. The Role As Divisional Manager, you will provide clear leadership, strategic direction and operational oversight across multiple refurbishment, retrofit and fire remediation schemes. Leading Contracts Managers, Site Managers, Commercial teams, Technical specialists and Development colleagues, you will create a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability and excellence. You will be responsible for driving operational performance, commercial success and business growth, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and in line with the division's objectives. Key Responsibilities * Lead the successful delivery of refurbishment, retrofit and fire remediation projects across the region. * Play an active role in business development activities, supporting the identification and securing of new opportunities. * Drive turnover, profitability and operational performance in line with divisional targets. * Provide leadership and support to Operations Managers, Contracts Managers, Site Managers and wider project teams. * Work closely with Commercial teams to ensure robust financial management throughout pre-construction and project delivery phases. * Identify and manage risks whilst maximising opportunities through collaborative and innovative working practices. * Champion high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) performance across all projects. * Support the ongoing development, mentoring and succession planning of employees within the division. * Promote sustainable construction practices and minimise environmental impact across project delivery. About You The successful candidate will have significant experience leading large-scale refurbishment, retrofit, building safety or fire remediation projects, ideally within a main contracting environment. You will also possess: * Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary construction and commercial teams. * Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills. * A proven track record of delivering projects safely, on programme and within budget. * Strong commercial awareness and financial management capability. * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. * High levels of organisation, motivation and attention to detail. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and Project. * A proactive and solutions-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
