Business Development Manager

Salary: to £50,000 + car allowance

Location: Worksop, although you will manage your own diary around client meetings

A growing recruitment and staffing business is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new client acquisition across industrial engineering, construction, equipment hire and plant hire markets. The company is expanding due to sustained demand and requires a commercially minded professional who can build a strong pipeline, convert opportunities and support long-term strategic growth.

This role suits someone who understands operational cycles, annual shutdowns and workforce planning within industrial environments. The Role

  • You will be responsible for identifying, engaging and securing new business opportunities across high-demand sectors.
  • This is a field-based, relationship-led role requiring regular client visits and the ability to manage your own diary effectively.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching and targeting organisations with planned shutdowns, maintenance periods or high-volume staffing needs.
  • Developing tailored proposals and presenting solutions that align with client operational requirements.
  • Spending two to three days per week visiting clients, conducting site meetings and building strong commercial relationships.
  • Managing a structured pipeline, tracking activity and reporting outcomes to support strategic planning.
  • Working closely with the recruitment delivery team to ensure seamless handover from initial engagement through to fulfilment.
  • Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and sector developments to identify new opportunities.Representing the business professionally at client meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, account management or sales within recruitment, industrial engineering, construction, equipment or plant hire.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence in client-facing environments.
  • Ability to manage a field-based schedule and maintain consistent activity levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
