The Opportunity

The company is seeking an experienced

Senior Recruitment Consultant to develop and manage a blue-collar M&E construction desk.

This is a senior, commercially focused position combining business development, account management and recruitment delivery.

You will recruit skilled mechanical and electrical tradespeople for construction and infrastructure projects throughout the UK while developing relationships with both existing and prospective clients.

The successful consultant will join an established recruitment business with a recognised brand, extensive industry relationships and the operational resources needed to support a high-volume temporary labour desk.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a profitable blue-collar M&E recruitment desk
  • Build relationships with M&E contractors, subcontractors and major infrastructure clients.
  • Identify and secure new temporary labour requirements through proactive business development.
  • Manage existing accounts and increase the company’s supply across current projects.
  • Recruit skilled M&E tradespeople, including electricians, electrical mates, plumbers, pipefitters, duct fitters, mechanical fitters, improvers and supervisors.
  • Source candidates through the company database, job boards, referrals, advertising and direct approaches.
  • Screen and qualify workers before submission or placement.
  • Negotiate charge rates, pay rates and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate worker bookings, site starts, extensions and replacement requirements.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients, site teams and temporary workers.
  • Work closely with the compliance and payroll teams to ensure workers are fully cleared before starting.
  • Monitor weekly gross profit, worker numbers, margins and outstanding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate candidate, client and vacancy information using the company’s recruitment systems.
  • Represent the business professionally during client meetings, site visits and industry events.

  • Previous experience as a

Recruitment Consultant or Senior Recruitment Consultant within blue-collar M&E, construction, engineering or technical recruitment.

  • A proven track record of managing temporary labour requirements.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical trades and the qualifications required for site-based workers.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing client relationships and generating new business.
  • The ability to manage both recruitment delivery and commercial account development.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A sound understanding of temporary-worker compliance, right-to-work requirements and construction-sector qualifications.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience of managing pay rates, charge rates and margins.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, deadline-driven recruitment environment.
  • A full UK driving licence would be beneficial due to client meetings and site visits.
