We are working with a growing business that is looking to appoint a
Finance & Administration Assistant to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous finance or accounts administration experience who is looking for a varied, hands-on role where they can develop their skills and become a valued member of the business.
Working closely with the f inance, commercial, operational and sales teams , you will play an important role in keeping the financial and administrative side of the business running smoothly.
The Role The successful candidate will take responsibility for a range of day-to-day finance and office administration activities, ensuring financial records are accurate, suppliers are dealt with efficiently and the office operates effectively.
You will need to be organised, reliable and detail-focused, with the confidence to work across different areas of the business and manage your own workload.
This is a hands-on position where accuracy, attention to detail and a professional approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities Process purchase and subcontractor invoices accurately and efficiently.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries promptly.
Allocate receipts and payments within the accounting system.
Complete daily bank reconciliations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Support month-end procedures, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements.
Maintain subcontractor records and support CIS administration where required.
Answer telephone calls and respond to email enquiries in a professional and helpful manner.
Manage incoming and outgoing post.
Order office stationery and general office supplies.
Organise meetings and manage meeting room bookings.
Provide wider administrative support to the Finance, Commercial, Construction and Sales teams.
Build positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and other external contacts.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and confident working within a finance environment.
You will ideally have: Previous experience in a finance, accounts or finance administration role.
A good understanding of purchase ledger and sales ledger processes.
Strong numerical and organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
Good IT skills and confidence using accounting systems and Microsoft Office.
A professional and confidential approach to handling financial information.
A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to support the wider business.
Experience within an owner managed business would be advantageous but is not essential.
