We are working with a dynamic and forward-thinking professional services firm based in the Blackburn area who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their small finance team. The company has been well established for over 50 years and has developed and evolved into a well-respected brand.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to grow their career in a supportive and professional environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the firm.
Responsibilities Of The Assistant Accountant Will Include
- Maintaining accurate financial records and general ledger reconciliations
- Processing accounts payable and receivable, including invoice entry, payment runs, and debtor follow-up
- Managing employee expense claims and corporate credit card reconciliations
- Posting and reconciling bank transactions and performing daily cash flow monitoring
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
- Preparing VAT returns and other statutory filings
- Processing client billing, including raising sales invoices and managing work-in-progress reports
- Maintaining fixed asset registers and processing depreciation journals
- Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Assisting with year-end audits and financial reporting
Already You Will Have The Following Attributes
- AAT Technician or studying towards (preferable)
- Minimum 3 years accounting experience, ideally within a service-based business
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Reside within 25 miles of Blackburn
