The Role

We are looking for a skilled Data Center Technician in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom to provide on-site technical support at local data center facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remote Hands & Smart Hands support (cabling, power cycling, hardware swaps)
  • Server rack installation and decommissioning
  • Cross-connect and patch panel management
  • Hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Visual inspections and inventory audits
  • Escort and access coordination for client visits
  • Emergency response and on-call availability

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with data center infrastructure
  • Knowledge of server hardware, networking, and cabling standards
  • Reliable transportation and proximity to local data centers
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to lift 25kg+ equipment
  • Flexible availability including weekends/holidays for urgent requests

Nice to Have

  • Certifications: CompTIA Server+, Network+, CDCP, CCNA
  • Experience at major DC providers (Equinix, Digital Realty, NTT, CyrusOne)
  • Structured cabling expertise (fiber, Cat6, DAC)
  • Data center or IT infrastructure experience
  • Server hardware and networking knowledge
  • Reliable and professional with strong communication
  • Proximity to local data center facilities
  • Flexible schedule for on-call/emergency work
