We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION! For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We are on the hunt for an experienced Lead Environment Artist to help drive the visuals for an exciting unannounced project. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team behind the Sniper Elite series and fresh off the success of Atomfall, our biggest launch to date. As a highly experienced member of the art team, your role is to manage, direct and deliver the environment art direction for the project. Your focus is to lead a team of Artists to deliver artistic content in line with your direction. This role is based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Environment artists with best practice people management techniques.
  • Be an active mentor and role model for the environment art team.
  • Work to maintain morale and create an atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm.
  • Proactively manage your team’s performance and professional development through performance review cycles giving constructive, actionable, relevant feedback.
  • Guide the creation of benchmark quality assets which can be shared across the project in respect of the technical and artistic constraints.
  • Take ownership in creating game design documents to outline project goals for environments, objectives, atmospheres, story, and style of the project.
  • Guide world building team to create terrains, structures, textures and engaging environments.
  • Proactively assist with production estimates, scheduling and tracking.
  • Challenge and help re‑define technical and artistic process by collaborating with key stakeholders, tech art and code to set long term technical goals.
  • Communicate with centralised teams regarding photogrammetry, outsourcing and materials.

Requirements:

  • Ability to delegate, balance team management and art creation.
  • Expert knowledge of game engines and tools.
  • Expertise in a 3D software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya or Blender.
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D sculpting packages such as Zbrush or Mudbox.
  • Expert knowledge of PBR material pipeline and texturing using Substance.
  • Able to translate and creatively evolve concept and reference artwork into 3D assets.
  • Expert knowledge of composition and visual storytelling.
  • Excellent knowledge of production pipelines.
