We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION. For 30 years we've been creating incredible video games at our multiple studios, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
We are on the lookout for a Lead VFX Artist to join our passionate and growing VFX team to work on an upcoming unannounced project at the early stages of development. The VFX team is responsible for all visual effects developed in Rebellion's games, including particle effects, screen post effects, material effects, mesh destruction effects, and UI effects developed in Rebellion's proprietary engine "Asura".
You will play a pivotal role in shaping project-specific processes and delivering industry-leading VFX for exciting new titles, giving you a direct influence on the construction and pipeline requirements. Responsibilities- Define the creative vision and technical direction for real-time visual effects across the project.
- Guide, inspire, and mentor a team of VFX artists, ensuring high-quality standards and consistent visual language.
- Partner with art, design, and engineering leadership to align VFX with gameplay, storytelling, and overall project goals.
- Establish and maintain efficient workflows, pipelines, and best practices to keep the team productive and scalable.
- Provide clear feedback, support career growth, and foster a collaborative, creative environment.
- Own the delivery of VFX content at scale, balancing visual impact with performance budgets and platform requirements.

Requirements- Extensive professional experience in real-time VFX, with a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional artistry, technical mastery, and a cohesive visual style.
- Leadership experience guiding teams of VFX artists, providing mentorship, and setting standards for quality and efficiency.
- Expert proficiency with industry-standard tools (Blender, Photoshop, Substance, After Effects, Houdini, Embergen, or equivalents).
- Deep knowledge of particle systems, textures, simulations, and optimisation strategies for real-time performance.
- Ability to define and communicate a clear vision for VFX that enhances gameplay and narrative.
- Strong cross-discipline collaboration skills, with experience aligning VFX direction with art, design, and code.
- Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and establish scalable workflows and pipelines.
- Experience with project planning, source control, and documentation, ensuring the VFX team operates smoothly within studio and departmental pipelines.
