For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled back-end Senior Online Developer to join our tech team, to help build and support internal and external web APIs to support our game engine team. The successful candidate will join a small team and use their specialist JavaScript knowledge to be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and system design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance. You will be working on building internal tools as well as public-facing APIs. This is primarily a back-end role and we are looking for a talented senior or lead who has experience building performant and distributed backend APIs, and efficiently utilizing 3rd party services. They will be comfortable communicating with other teams to fix bugs and resolve issues. This is an excellent opportunity to build exciting business-critical systems from the ground up.

Key Outcomes:
- Produce performant and well-documented code.
- Successfully develop and deploy new tools to support our game teams.
- Responsive to bugs and issues as they arise and providing speedy resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and deploy web applications to support our in-house engine team.
- Maintain and improve existing tools.
- Develop integrations with third-party APIs.
- Support our application deployments.
- Communicate with other teams.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong experience with NodeJS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- A knowledge of front-end frameworks like Vue and React.
- Strong experience with databases such as MySQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with AWS or equivalent cloud environments.
- Strong experience with software development tools and version control systems (Git/Perforce desirable).
- Demonstrated capacity to quickly learn new technologies.
- Comfortable modifying/maintaining applications written in other languages (such as PHP) is desirable.
- Experience writing serverless functions (AWS Lambda/Azure Functions) is a bonus.
