We want you to JOIN THE REBELLION! For 30 years we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley. Rebellion is more than just games; we have our own film and mo-cap studio, create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

As an experienced or senior Gameplay Programmer, your role will be to develop and implement gameplay code for the project using our in-house proprietary engine, ensuring that the integration of the work is in line with the project’s technical constraints and direction. You will be joining a small, passionate, and experienced team with a proven record of delivering quality experiences. This exciting opportunity can be based out of any of our studios in Oxford or Warwick, offering flexibility, collaboration, and the chance to work with a world‑class team!

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement gameplay code, writing and testing larger classes with complex functionality.
  • Collaborate with team members across disciplines, fostering a positive culture.
  • Fix non-trivial bugs in a timely manner and address simple performance issues.
  • Perform pre‑commit testing, anticipating potential problems and ensuring code quality.
  • Comment code appropriately and adhere to coding standards.
  • Contribute to code reviews and provide feedback on areas of expertise.
  • Track progress and update tasks using Jira.
  • Support other team members and contribute to backlog review and prioritisation.
Requirements:
  • Excellent C/C++ programming skills, with sound knowledge of object‑oriented development.
  • Professional experience working on at least one published console/PC game, with work related to gameplay and general game flow.
  • Skilled in multi‑threaded code.
  • Project scheduling, milestones, and deliverables experience.
  • Knowledgeable of video game industry best practices.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • An interest in shooters, and/or cooperative experiences.
