This is a platform-shaping, culture-driving, reliability-owning Tech Lead position. You will be the person who ensures the engine never stalls. Powering 50+ websites and 10 mobile apps, this digital ecosystem operates at serious scale. The infrastructure behind it? That's where you come in.
The Mission
We are looking for a DevOps Tech Lead to own the cloud platform, drive operational excellence and build a squad that delivers infrastructure properly. You will spend around 30% hands-on (because leaders who code earn respect), and the rest shaping strategy, mentoring engineers and pushing standards higher.
This is about:
- Scalable, secure Azure cloud environments
- Rock-solid Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Mature CI/CD pipelines & GitHub workflows
- Observability, incident management & reliability
- Building a true DevOps / SRE culture
If uptime, automation and elegant infrastructure matter to you - you'll feel at home here.
What You Will Own
- Lead a high-performing DevOps / Platform squad
- Design and scale Azure infrastructure
- Drive Terraform best practice across environments
- Improve monitoring, alerting & system visibility
- Implement SRE principles (SLAs, SLOs, error budgets)
- Guide incident management & root cause analysis
- Elevate CI/CD and release strategies
- Embed a culture of automation, accountability and security
You won't just respond to incidents, you'll design systems where incidents become rare.
What You Bring
- Proven experience leading DevOps or SRE teams
- Deep Azure expertise (networking, identity, cost, provisioning)
- Strong Terraform & IaC in production
- Docker, Kubernetes / AKS experience
- CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or similar)
- Monitoring stack exposure (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, etc.)
- Strong communication across tech & non-tech stakeholders
Bonus points for:
- FinOps / cloud cost optimisation
- Zero-trust / secrets management
- Event-driven systems & distributed architecture
- CDN & performance optimisation knowledge
You think strategically, you execute practically and you hold the bar high.
The Perks (And They Are Proper Perks)
- Up to £125k (sweet spot £110-120k)
- Remote-first (1 day per month onsite)
- Monthly peer recognition with potential double pay for a month
- Staff discount across all group brands
- Onsite state-of-the-art gym with full shower facilities
- Discounted gym memberships across multiple UK locations
- 24/7 wellbeing support including counselling & financial/legal advice
- Real progression in a business that backs ambitious leaders
- Once a year you will spend time on the frontline of the business to understand how your platform impacts real-world operations.
Why This Role?
Because you're not just another DevOps engineer. You're someone who:
- Wants influence.
- Wants ownership.
- Wants scale.
- Wants to build systems that don't wobble under pressure.
This business moves fast, it rewards bold thinking and it backs leaders who step up. If you're ready to take full ownership of platform reliability and build something that genuinely operates at scale, let's talk.
We welcome diverse applicants and are dedicated to treating all applicants with dignity and respect, regardless of background.
