We are recruiting a Group Financial Controller on behalf of a private equity–backed, rapidly scaling, multi-site group. This is a pivotal appointment, reporting directly to the CFO, with responsibility for strengthening financial control, enhancing reporting capability, and building a best-in-class finance function to support an ambitious buy-and-build growth strategy. This role offers a rare opportunity to join a PE-backed business at an exciting stage of expansion, where strong leadership, technical excellence, and commercial insight will be critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team across the group
- Deliver timely, accurate consolidated monthly management accounts and MI
- Produce board-level reporting packs with insightful financial commentary
- Oversee cashflow, liquidity, and working capital optimisation
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning cycles
- Manage covenant reporting and maintain strong lender relationships
- Drive improvements across finance systems, processes, and internal controls
- Strengthen the overall financial control and governance framework
- Lead finance integration for newly acquired entities and sites
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisors, and external partners
- Ensure full compliance with UK statutory reporting requirements
- Act as the technical accounting lead, including complex accounting matters and VAT considerations
Candidate Profile
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven track record of leading and developing finance teams
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including statutory reporting and complex VAT
- Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
- Strategic mindset combined with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable operating at both hands-on and board-interaction level
- Experience in a private equity–backed environment is advantageous but not essential
