R4 Advertising is looking for a Chief Media Investment Officer to join our senior leadership team and lead the investment and trading discipline at the heart of our business. This is not a traditional agency investment role. R4 Advertising operates through three disciplines: Trade, Plan, Activate.

You will lead Trade. Traditional media models have historically allowed commercial value generated through client investment to become agency margin, rebates, AVBs or other hidden profit centres. We built R4 Advertising to challenge that model. We identify the Volume-Based Discount (VBD) generated by a client's media investment before that investment is activated. We expose it, evidence it, and pass that value back to the client. On project investment, clients can retain that commercial value as a saving or trade it up into greater media value. On an Annual Media Commitment, that value is contractually traded up into media. That value belongs to the client.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will own R4 Advertising's media investment strategy, senior media-owner relationships, trading agreements and the continued development and governance of our VBD model. Your success will not be measured by how much commercial value the agency can retain. It will be measured by how much commercial value we can create, expose and return to our clients.

Requirements:

  • Significant senior-level experience in media investment, trading or commercial media leadership.
  • Currently operating at, or ready to step into, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Trading Officer, Head of Investment, Managing Partner Investment or equivalent level.
  • Deep relationships with senior trading and commercial teams across the UK media-owner landscape.
  • Significant experience negotiating media-owner trading agreements, volume arrangements and strategic commercial partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of OOH, TV, radio, digital, programmatic and the wider UK media marketplace.
  • Expert understanding of media pricing, inventory, commitments, benchmarks, rebates, AVBs and commercial trading structures.
  • Proven experience managing significant levels of client media investment.
  • Ability to operate commercially at board, client and media-owner level.
  • Strong understanding of investment governance, auditability and commercial transparency.
  • Ability to build, lead and develop a high-performing media trading function.
  • Comfortable challenging established agency trading models and thinking differently about where commercial value belongs.

What You Get:

  • A genuine C-suite position within one of the UK's fastest-growing independent media businesses.
  • Direct reporting line to the Founder & CEO.
  • A seat on R4 Advertising's senior leadership team.
  • Ownership of the Trade discipline within Trade, Plan, Activate.
  • The opportunity to shape and scale R4 Advertising's media investment model across the UK and internationally.
  • Responsibility for developing one of R4 Advertising's most important commercial differentiators: VBD.
  • The opportunity to build senior relationships across the media-owner marketplace as R4 Advertising's investment scale grows.
  • Significant influence over the future structure, team and technology supporting R4 Advertising's trading capability.
  • The opportunity to challenge one of the advertising industry's longest-standing commercial models and build something genuinely different.
  • Competitive executive salary and package.
  • Performance-related remuneration.
  • Executive-level benefits package.
  • Senior leadership development and progression.
  • London and Cardiff office access.
  • Company events and team experiences.
  • The opportunity to work across major UK and international client accounts.
  • A high-growth environment with significant autonomy, responsibility and influence.
