Bookkeeper in Manchester

We’re looking for a detail‑driven, proactive Bookkeeper to take ownership of the day‑to‑day financial operations at Reason Digital. You’ll be an essential part of our finance function - ensuring our numbers are accurate, our processes are smooth, and our team has the financial information they need to deliver meaningful social impact. Ideally, you’ll bring experience from a digital, creative, or marketing environment, and be confident working with project‑based accounting, cash flow management, and structured financial processes. This is a part time role (3–4 days per week) and we’re happy to discuss how best to make the arrangement work for you. Ideally you will be North West based and able to attend key financial meetings with the MD. What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee the day‑to‑day finance operations including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and accounts payable/receivable in Xero
• Prepare monthly financial information including prepayments, accruals, deferrals and WIP/project revenue updates
• Maintain cash flow forecasts and support budgeting processes
• Work closely with project managers to ensure revenue recognition aligns with project milestones
• Manage VAT returns, coordinate payroll with an external provider and maintain HMRC compliance
• Maintain invoicing schedules to ensure timely and accurate billing
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and controls
• Provide concise financial updates to internal teams and stakeholders
• Track freelancer and contractor budgets and payments
• Support the preparation of annual accounts and liaise with external accountants

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ experience in a bookkeeping or finance role, ideally within a digital, creative or marketing agency
• Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting and project‑based revenue models
• AAT qualified or part‑qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership
• Ability to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues
• Experience improving financial systems and processes
• Familiarity with tools like Harvest is beneficial
