Following the retirement of a long serving member of staff, Reaseheath College is seeking an exceptional Head of Student Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across student services, safeguarding, wellbeing, student life and residential provision. Reporting to the Assistant Principal - Student Experience & Support, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver a consistently outstanding student experience that enables learners to belong, thrive and succeed. This is a College Management Team (CMT) role with significant influence on the culture, safety and quality of student life at Reaseheath. This role requires flexibility, including evenings or weekends during duty manager shifts, peak periods or in response to safeguarding matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide inspirational leadership to Student Services, Safeguarding, Student Life, Welfare and Residential teams.
- Lead on safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring robust compliance with safeguarding legislation, some specific to residential care, and best practice.
- Oversee residential accommodation and transport provision, ensuring high-quality support and welfare for all students, particularly those under 18.
- Drive continuous improvement in the student experience through effective use of data, KPIs and quality assurance processes.
- Promote inclusive behaviour, positive conduct and the student voice across the College.
- Lead campus safety, security and incident response, including acting as an on-site Duty Manager and taking a lead role in the management of behaviour on campus.
- Support other areas of the college to deliver high-quality, inclusive, student-centred services aligned with key priorities.
- Manage budgets effectively to deliver high-quality services in a cost-effective manner.
- Build strong partnerships with internal teams, parents, external agencies and sector partners.
- Contribute to cross-college strategy, committees and student experience development.
- Act as a Duty Manager providing on call support to the team supporting the operation of our residential provision.
Qualifications
- Be an experienced and credible leader with a strong background in student support, safeguarding and student experience within FE and/or HE.
- Have substantial leadership experience in a Further or Higher Education environment.
- Have proven experience as a Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead.
- Have strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Prevent and residential safeguarding standards.
- Have a track record of delivering high-quality student experience and welfare services.
- Have excellent people management skills, with the ability to lead, develop and challenge high-performing teams.
- Have confidence working with data, budgets and quality frameworks to inform decisions, evaluate impact and drive improvement.
- Have outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate and build trust at all levels.
