Overview: Reaseheath College is a forward‑thinking and dynamic college providing an excellent educational experience to over 4,500 students a year. The Functional Skills team plays a key role in supporting apprentices to achieve essential English and maths skills required for their programmes and future employment. The department works collaboratively with curriculum areas and Skills Coaches to embed Functional Skills within apprenticeship delivery and support learners to achieve their qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver English and Maths Functional Skills sessions.
- Monitor and track the delivery, completion and achievement of Functional Skills for apprentices.
- Develop lesson plans and learning resources that support high-quality teaching and enhance the learner experience.
- Work collaboratively with Skills Coaches and curriculum teams to embed Functional Skills into apprenticeship programmes.
- Assess and support learners using a range of methods, developing individual action plans based on diagnostic assessments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold Functional Skills Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Hold a recognised teaching qualification.
- Demonstrate experience delivering Functional Skills or similar educational provision.
- Be able to plan and deliver high‑quality teaching sessions and learning materials that engage learners.
- Have strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate learners and manage a busy workload.

Regulatory Information: This role constitutes 'regulated activity' as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must also have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
