Over the last 25 years, we’ve enabled a global workforce to work wherever works and created the remote access market. Our software is used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide including IT professionals from global companies, such as Intel, IBM, NASA, Shell, DreamWorks and Philips. Our lead product, VNC Connect, allows users to connect securely to a remote device anywhere in the world, see its screen in real‑time, and take control as though sitting in front of it.
We are looking for a Head of Finance to lead the end‑to‑end financial operations of the organisation and support the CFO in shaping financial strategy, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and long‑term sustainability. This role blends hands‑on financial management with shaping business decisions through data‑driven financial insight and strategic guidance. Working as part of a small team, this role is a great opportunity to gain experience across a breadth of core financial processes within a fast‑paced private equity backed business with global reach.
Responsibilities
- Support the CFO in developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with RealVNC’s organisational goals.
- Advise senior leadership and board members on financial planning and risk management.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning.
- Own the end‑to‑end process of reporting monthly business performance to the RealVNC board of directors and other key stakeholders.
- Liaise with other department heads within the CFO Office, to promote cross‑functional collaboration across Legal, BI, IT, Compliance and HR.
- Oversee day‑to‑day financial activities including accounting, FP&A, payroll, tax and treasury.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Manage the audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations and tax laws.
- Oversee internal controls and financial risk registers.
- Build and mentor a high‑performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial accountability across the team.
As we’re a small team the role will also include some responsibilities which arise on an ad‑hoc basis and supporting in providing cover for other team members when on leave.
Requirements
- Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Strong demonstrable experience in month‑end accounting processes, including preparation and posting of journals.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and can confidently apply this in practice.
- Proven ability to produce statutory financial statements in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Good understanding of UK corporate tax requirements and reporting obligations.
- Familiar with the statutory audit process and know how to support auditors effectively.
- Comfortable working with multiple currencies.
- Experience leading a team, coaching and mentoring others to create a highly engaged and productive team.
- Ability to partner across the business and build relationships with key stakeholders in a collaborative approach.
- Highly organised and able to manage deadlines across multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical skills and enjoy digging into the detail to find insights and ensure accuracy.
- Understanding of forecasting and other predictive measures of performance.
- Understanding of payroll processes, including NIC, apprenticeship, levies, pension.
- Operate with a high level of attention to detail.
- Enjoy collaborating with others and contributing to a positive team environment.
- Confident interacting with auditors and external advisors.
Desired Experience
- Experience of SaaS / subscriptions would be preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with UK and US sales taxes is preferred, though not a requirement.
