Real VNC is the remote access platform for engineers looking for the most reliable and the most secure solution built by the creators of VNC technology.

Over the last 25 years, as the inventors of VNC, we've enabled a global workforce to work wherever works and created the remote access market.

Our software is used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide including IT professionals from global companies, such as Intel, IBM, NASA, Shell, Dream Works and Philips.

Our lead product, VNC Connect, allows users to connect securely to a remote device anywhere in the world, see its screen in real-time, and take control as though sitting in front of it.

The product has been deployed across a myriad of use cases, from remote support through to deploying the software onto connected devices such as medical ventilators, set‑top boxes, heavy industrial machinery and more.

Backed by leading mid‑market private equity firm, Livingbridge since 2021, we are investing in our people to support our highly ambitious growth plans.

As part of our people strategy to develop our next generation organisation, we are looking to add new team members that are integral to the success of the business, committed to delivering high quality results, collaboration and innovation to help accelerate company growth.

Position

We're looking for a Head of Commercial Systems to own how our go-to-market systems serve the business: understanding what Sales, Marketing and Customer Success need, turning that into a roadmap, and directing the team that delivers it.

Reporting to the SVP of Operations, you'll be the bridge between our commercial leaders and our systems team, translating business objectives and pain points into practical solutions and making sure our systems actively support our strategy & ways of working.

You'll also play a key part in how we utilise AI as part of an optimised operating model.

Systems in scope

Salesforce and Zuora (core), plus Hub Spot, Outreach, Mule Soft and a wider commercial tech stack.

Key responsibilities include

  • Partnering with go-to-market leadership
  • Act as the trusted systems partner to the leads of Sales, Marketing, Retention, Customer Service, Finance and Rev Ops;
  • Understand their objectives, targets and day‑to‑day pain points, and challenge and shape requirements;
  • Ensure our systems reinforce the strategy and provide a best‑in‑class customer experience.
  • Owning the commercial systems roadmap
  • Turn business problems into technical solutions and continuously find ways to optimise our system and technical operations - spotting opportunities to simplify, improve or consolidate;
  • Identify where AI can add value, streamline processes or automate manual work across the commercial stack, and build these opportunities into the roadmap;
  • Build and own a roadmap across the commercial stack;
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and team delivery, balancing quick wins with strategic projects and technical health;
  • Ensure data quality, governance and documentation are kept accurate and up to date;
  • Report progress clearly to the SVP Operations and wider management.
  • Overseeing the team and delivery
  • Oversee, coach and develop the systems team;
  • Plan and run delivery so work lands on time and to a high standard;
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy as the SVP Operation's right hand on all things commercial systems;
  • Own vendor relationships across the stack.

Requirements

  • Understand how a Saa S business works and how systems can support strategy technically;
  • Have proven track record of translating business problems into systems solutions and seeing them through to adoption;
  • Have experience owning and prioritising a roadmap across multiple stakeholders with different demands;
  • Have experience guiding and developing a technical team (developers, admins, QA and architects);
  • Have deep working knowledge of Salesforce and how it underpins a commercial operation;
  • Have an understanding of how commercial systems and their integrations fit together and can configure, investigate data and troubleshoot issues;
  • Feel comfortable working autonomously, making decisions and managing upwards.
  • Can successfully explain both a technical trade-off to a sales leader and a business objective to a developer.

Clear written and verbal instructions, documentation and project management skills are key to being successful in this role.

Anything else?

  • As well as the above, if you have any of the desired experience below then we'd like to know about it!
  • Have experience with Zuora or another subscription billing platform (quote-to‑cash);
  • Have experience with Hub Spot, Outreach and integration platforms such as Mule Soft;
  • Have experience of or strong interest in applying AI to commercial processes (for example AI features in Salesforce, agents, or connecting AI tools to business systems and data);
  • Have a background in Rev Ops, Sales Ops or Business Systems in a scaling Saa S company;
  • Have experience managing vendors, licenses and systems budgets.

How to prepare for a job interview at RealVNC

✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If RealVNC uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

✨Showcase Your Projects

Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
