Our client is a well-established, global technology organisation specialising in test and measurement solutions for telecommunications networks. They design and manufacture advanced electronic and software products that support the deployment of next-generation mobile technologies and ensure the performance and reliability of network-dependent services. Their solutions are used by customers in over 60 countries worldwide.

This role is a minimum of 2 days onsite.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project / Engineering Manager to join a growing R&D management team. The business makes significant ongoing investment in research and development to maintain its position at the forefront of network testing technology. With an expanding product portfolio and engineering team, this is an excellent time to join and play a key role in shaping future product success.

In this position, you will lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver next-generation products and features. You will work closely with Product Management on commercial and roadmap activities and provide regular progress updates to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary Electronics, Mechanical and Software Engineering teams to deliver new products and features
  • Plan, budget and manage complex development projects in line with an established NPI process
  • Motivate and guide project teams to deliver against agreed objectives and timelines
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define and deliver the product roadmap for assigned product lines
  • Lead technical teams in the evaluation of product concepts, architectures and associated trade-offs
  • Provide line management to engineering staff and support recruitment activities (1-2-1's and performance reviews)
  • Work collaboratively with the wider management team to support quality initiatives and continuous process improvement

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree-level education in Electronics, Software Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ project management experience delivering both complex hardware and software products. Hardware and Software is a requirement
  • A background in Engineering or Support roles (hardware and software focused)
  • Strong ability to prioritise and deliver under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven capability in managing and resolving complex technical, logistical and project challenges
  • A structured yet pragmatic approach to project management
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to report effectively at all organisational levels, including senior management
  • Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and customer-focused decision making
  • Previous line management experience of engineering teams
  • Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Knowledge of telecommunications and packet-based networks
  • Test and measurement product development experience
  • Experience transitioning products from development into manufacture
  • Experience managing projects involving external or third-party development partners
