Step into a senior role with a clear path to leadership, not just more files. Hybrid or fully remote working with genuine trust and autonomy. Relationship-led firm where quality matters more than volume.
This Stoke-on-Trent-based role is a strategic growth hire, not a replacement. You’ll be joining a residential property team that’s expanding carefully, investing in support staff and structure so senior lawyers can focus on doing their best work. From the outset, you’ll take ownership of a full conveyancing caseload and be trusted to run it your way. There’s no need to prove yourself through long hours or unrealistic targets; the expectation is quality, consistency and strong client relationships.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership, with open communication around workload and capacity from day one. Over the first 6–12 months, you’ll establish yourself as a reliable senior figure, someone who not only delivers strong billings but also adds stability to the team. You’ll naturally begin supporting junior colleagues, helping guide less experienced fee earners and contributing to a collaborative team dynamic.
Looking ahead, this is where the role stands out. There’s a genuine route into leadership, with the opportunity to step into a more senior, influential position as part of long-term succession planning. You won’t just be another senior fee earner; you’ll be part of shaping how the team develops. The culture is straightforward and professional. Clients are treated as people, not transactions, and internally there’s a strong sense of trust; partners are visible, approachable, and expect open conversations rather than silent pressure.
Who we’re looking for:
- Experienced Residential Conveyancer (3-6 PQE) able to run a full caseload independently
- Confident managing client relationships and handling matters end-to-end
- Strong background in client-facing conveyancing work
- Excellent communication skills, proactive and personable
- Commercially aware with a focus on quality and reputation
- Calm, confident and collaborative approach
- Likely from a high-street or mixed-practice environment (Desired)
- Comfortable supporting and mentoring junior fee earners (Desired)
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters (sales, purchases, remortgages, equity work)
- Handling files from instruction through to completion
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through direct communication
- Delegating to support staff while retaining full responsibility for files
- Supporting junior colleagues through guidance and example
- Contributing to overall team stability and performance
- Playing a part in the long-term development of the department
Salary & Benefits:
- £45,000-£60,000 with flexibility, no rigid ceiling for the right person
- Hybrid or fully remote working depending on experience
- Clear pathway into senior leadership / Head of Department level responsibility
- Discretionary bonuses for strong performance
- Stable, independent firm with low staff turnover
- Open, supportive leadership with proactive workload management
- Long-term career development with real investment in people
- Parking and informal recognition benefits
- Trust-led culture with genuine flexibility
