Walk into a full caseload with no expectation to win your own work. 3 or 4-day week available with genuine flexibility around your diary. Autonomy and trust, no micromanagement, just support when you need it. This Preston-based role has come about due to continued growth, alongside an upcoming maternity leave, so there’s a real need for someone who can step in and make an impact quickly. You won’t be building from scratch; there’s a steady flow of work ready and waiting.

From day one, you’ll take ownership of a mixed private client caseload (wills, LPAs and probate), with the support of a paralegal and a wider collaborative team. You’ll be expected to get up to speed quickly, but you’ll also have the freedom to manage your own time and approach. This isn’t a rigid, target-heavy environment.

Over the first 6–12 months, success is about consistency: running your files confidently, supporting the team, and building momentum. There’s no pressure to bring in work, but you’ll naturally become a key part of a growing department. Long-term, this is a role where you can shape how you work. Whether you want to stay as a steady, reliable fee earner or grow into something more senior, there’s a clear framework to support that. The culture is relaxed but professional, people are trusted to do their job without being micromanaged, and the team works together to keep things running smoothly.

Who we’re looking for:

  • 2–5 PQE Private Client Solicitor
  • Able to run a caseload independently from day one
  • Experience in wills, probate and LPAs
  • Team player who works collaboratively with support staff
  • Organised and comfortable managing your own workload
  • Open to working in Preston regularly to support the wider team

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing a caseload of c.65–70 files (split across wills, LPAs and probate)
  • Handling a mix of straightforward and more complex matters
  • Working closely with a paralegal to progress files efficiently
  • Managing your own diary and workload with autonomy
  • Maintaining strong client care and communication standards
  • Contributing to a collaborative, growing team environment

Salary & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Part‑time options (3 or 4 days) available
  • Hybrid working, 1–2 days from home
  • No business development expectations, plenty of work provided
  • Autonomy to manage your own time and workload
  • Supportive, non‑corporate environment
  • Clear progression framework as the team continues to grow
