4-day week (get paid for 5), and fully remote if you want it. High-quality international family work with a strong, ready-made caseload. Exposure to UHNW international work. Open to fully remote working with occasional time spent in the Manchester office, this role is designed for a family solicitor who wants proper flexibility without compromising on the quality of work. You’ll step into an already busy team with a steady flow of privately funded work, including complex financial and children matters with an international edge.
In your first few months, the focus is on taking ownership of that caseload, getting to grips with the firm’s systems and contributing to the growing stream of referrals and online enquiries. As you settle in, you’ll start shaping your own space within the team, whether that’s building a niche, developing a specialism (international work, children, surrogacy), or strengthening your own reputation in the market. Business development is expected, but it’s not forced; most work comes from strong inbound demand and referrals. Longer term, this is a role where you can genuinely grow. You’ll become a key part of a team that’s expanding deliberately (not reactively), with the opportunity to mentor others, influence how things are done and progress through a clear pathway if that’s what you want.
The culture is what makes this place different. It’s down-to-earth, open and genuinely supportive. There’s a high level of trust, people are given autonomy, but they’re also backed by a team that shares ideas, discusses cases openly and looks out for each other. If you’re looking for high-quality work without the rigidity of traditional firms, this is one of the few roles that genuinely delivers both.
Who we’re looking for:
- Qualified Family Solicitor with 5+ PQE
- Strong experience in privately funded family work
- Experience handling both financial and children matters
- Exposure to or interest in international family work (Desired)
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
- Strong billing awareness and financial management skills
- Business development experience or confidence building relationships
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using modern systems / AI tools
- Ability to bring a specialism, following or market reputation (Desired)
- Down-to-earth, collaborative and team-focused personality
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing a privately funded family caseload (finance, children, international elements)
- Handling complex matters including cross-border issues and high-value cases
- Building relationships with clients, referrers and professional contacts
- Contributing to business development through referrals and online enquiries
- Supporting new service offerings, including innovative client models
- Maintaining high standards of client care and achieving strong satisfaction scores
- Exposure to UHNW international work
- Using tech and AI tools to streamline workflow and improve efficiency
- Sharing ideas and contributing to continuous improvement within the team
- Supporting junior colleagues and collaborating on complex cases
Salary & Benefits:
- 4-day working week on full pay
- Fully remote working available (office optional after onboarding)
- Generous bonus structure
- High-quality, international caseload with strong inbound work
- Clear progression pathway to Partner and beyond
- Strong focus on wellbeing, including monthly wellbeing sessions
- Collaborative working model with shared caseload support
- Regular team communication and training despite remote setup
- Modern, tech-enabled environment (including AI tools)
