We are seeking a talented Freelance Fashion Designer to support the development of our collections and work closely with our Creative Director, Design Team and Production Team.
The Role
This is a hands-on design role focused on transforming creative concepts into fully developed products. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in sketching, CAD design, technical drawings and product development, with experience working within premium or luxury fashion brands. The role is ideal for a designer who enjoys creating beautiful products while maintaining strong attention to detail, fit, construction and commercial viability.
Reporting Structure
The Freelance Fashion Designer will report directly to Nadja Swarovski, Creative Director. The role will work closely with:

- Pattern Cutters
- Manufacturers and Suppliers
The role does not have management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Development
Translate creative direction into commercially viable designs. Produce hand sketches and digital fashion illustrations. Create seasonal product concepts across:
- Outerwear
- Tailoring
- Dresses
- Knitwear
- Shirts and blouses
- Country and lifestyle apparel
Support collection development from concept through production.
- CAD & Technical Design
Create detailed CAD drawings for all products. Produce accurate technical flats and garment specifications. Develop comprehensive tech packs for manufacturers. Ensure all technical information is complete and production-ready.
- Product Development
Work closely with the Production Team to ensure smooth product development. Review prototypes and samples. Participate in fittings and incorporate amendments. Maintain product integrity throughout the development process.
- Fabric & Trim Selection
Assist with fabric, trim and component sourcing. Recommend suitable materials aligned with the brand's quality standards. Support sustainability and quality objectives where possible.
- Supplier Communication
Work with the production team who liaise with manufacturers regarding technical queries. Ensure all design specifications are clearly communicated.
Candidate Profile
- Essential Experience
5+ years' experience within premium or luxury fashion brands. Strong experience designing womenswear. Excellent sketching and CAD capabilities. Proven experience creating technical drawings and tech packs. Strong understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes. Experience working directly with factories and suppliers.
- Technical Skills
Adobe Illustrator (essential), Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Technical specification development, Range building and product development.
- Personal Attributes
Highly organised and detail-oriented. Strong aesthetic sensibility. Excellent communication skills. Able to work independently and manage deadlines. Collaborative and solution-oriented. Passionate about luxury fashion, craftsmanship and British heritage.

Freelance consultancy arrangement. London-based. Combination of remote work, London meetings and occasional visits to Theale. Competitive day rate based on experience.
