We are looking for an experienced Freelance Knitwear Designer to join the Really Wild team. This role requires someone with a deep understanding of the manufacturing processes of various wool types—from lambswool to cashmere and silk blends—and the ability to apply this knowledge creatively. Our ideal candidate is passionate about knitwear design, with a strong eye for elegant and flattering silhouettes that appeal to modern, discerning customers.
You will work closely with the Head of Design and Creative Director to translate our vision into refined, timeless pieces, keeping current fashion trends in mind. Knowledge of sustainable practices, including recycling and upcycling materials, is a key advantage, as we continue to prioritise environmentally conscious fashion choices.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop knitwear pieces in alignment with Really Wild’s aesthetic and brand identity.
- Work with different wool types (lambswool, cashmere, silk blends) to create luxurious, high-quality products.
- Collaborate with the Head of Design and Creative Director to ensure designs meet brand standards and vision.
- Stay updated on the latest fashion trends and integrate them into design concepts.
- Consider sustainability in the design process, incorporating eco-friendly practices like material recycling and upcycling where appropriate.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and work seamlessly within the production process.
- Proven experience as a knitwear designer, with an impressive portfolio.
- In-depth knowledge of wool manufacturing processes and yarn selection.
- Strong design skills with an emphasis on creating flattering, timeless silhouettes.
- A keen understanding of current fashion trends.
- Experience or knowledge in sustainable practices within fashion, including recycling and upcycling materials.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
