We are seeking a talented freelance designer with a strong background in tailoring and technical outerwear, specifically within the niche of bird shooting and deer stalking apparel. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in working with British tweed and sustainable, weather-resistant fabrics, and a keen understanding of both function and form in countryside garments. You will collaborate with our Head of Design and align with the vision of our Creative Director to help develop seasonal capsule collections and key silhouettes for our country wear line.
Key Responsibilities:

- Select and develop appropriate sustainable materials such as British tweed, waxed cotton, and other water- and weather-resistant fabrics
- Work closely with pattern cutters and sample machinists to ensure precision in fit, durability, and silhouette
- Ensure all designs reflect the vision and standards of the Creative Director and are aligned with the brand’s aesthetic and values
- Collaborate with the wider design team on seasonal concepts, colour stories, and technical developments
- Maintain awareness of heritage references while also evolving the collection with relevant modern details
- Participate in fittings, reviews, and technical handovers
- Support the design team with clear and detailed tech packs, fabric sourcing, and production-ready specs
Experience & Skills Required:
- 5+ years of experience in luxury fashion design, with a focus on tailoring or technical outerwear
- Demonstrated expertise in designing shooting/stalking apparel or performance-oriented heritage garments
- Strong knowledge of British and sustainable fabrics including tweeds, waxed cotton, wool, and eco-fabrics
- Understanding of traditional tailoring techniques and functional construction for field use
- Able to balance heritage style with practical innovation
- Excellent technical drawing and CAD skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a collaborative approach
- Experience working on freelance projects or in-house seasonal roles
- Passion for British countryside style, craftsmanship, and sustainability
