We are looking for a Senior Designer who shares our passion for quality, design excellence, and sustainable practices. The Senior Designer will play a key role in the development of Really Wild Clothing’s collections, working closely with the Head of Design to bring the brand’s vision to life. This role requires a combination of creative flair, technical proficiency, and strong project management skills. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for luxury, craftsmanship, and sustainability, as well as a solid understanding of the commercial aspects of fashion design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Development: Create original and compelling designs for each collection, from initial sketches to final prototypes, ensuring alignment with Really Wild Clothing’s aesthetic and brand identity.
  • Technical Design Collaboration: Work closely with the in-house technical design team to ensure that designs are translated into high-quality, well-constructed garments. Oversee the fitting process, making necessary adjustments to achieve the desired fit and look.
  • Sustainability Focus: Incorporate sustainable design practices into every aspect of the design process, including fabric selection, sourcing, and manufacturing. Explore and implement fabric upcycling and other eco-friendly initiatives.
  • Liaison with Suppliers and Manufacturers: Communicate effectively with fabric suppliers and garment manufacturers to ensure that materials meet Really Wild Clothing’s quality and sustainability standards. Manage the sample development process to ensure timely delivery.
  • Adherence to Critical Paths: Create and maintain design critical paths, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that the design process runs smoothly from concept to production.
  • Trend Research and Innovation: Stay informed about current fashion trends, emerging technologies, and new materials. Use insights to inspire innovative design ideas that keep Really Wild Clothing at the forefront of the industry.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the design team, providing guidance and support as needed. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Design Library Management: Maintain the design library, ensuring it is organized and up-to-date. Keep track of all design assets and samples to enhance the team’s efficiency.
  • Commercial Awareness: Balance creativity with a keen understanding of the commercial aspects of fashion design. Ensure that designs are not only innovative but also viable from a production and financial perspective.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field from a reputable institution.

  • Proficient in hand sketching and experienced with state-of-the-art design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD).
  • Deep understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and production processes.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices, including sustainable sourcing, manufacturing, and fabric upcycling.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high level of grammar and vocabulary.
  • A collaborative team player who is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
