The Role: We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering across:

  • Our data products engineering teams - building and maintaining the feeds, datasets and reports we deliver to clients
  • The evolution of our underlying data models and event schemas, making products more consistent and easier to extend
  • The automation and internal tooling that unlock efficiency and quality (test automation, rule building tools, AI assisted workflows), and tying it all together

You’ll be responsible for people leadership, technical direction and delivery across these areas. You won’t be coding day‑to‑day, but you should be comfortable going deep on architecture, pipelines and trade‑offs with Tech Leads and senior engineers. Our offices are in Trafford Park, Manchester and the role consists of hybrid working, where we ask for our team to be in the office for collaboration and team building 2 days per week. The rest of the week is up to you; deep focus at home, or more of the same!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the roadmap and execution for our data products across multiple domains (apps, web, media, social, shopping, etc.)
  • Lead teams building and maintaining data feeds, schemas and reporting outputs used directly by clients
  • Evolve our shared data models and event structures so products are more unified, easier to reason about, and faster to extend
  • Shape and prioritise work on automation and tools that reduce manual effort and improve quality
  • Partner with Product, Data Engineering/ML, Apps, Test and client‑facing teams to define priorities and deliver against them
  • Hire, manage and develop engineers and tech leads; run 1:1s, feedback and career development
  • Establish and improve engineering practices across data products: observability, quality gates, documentation, incident response and SLAs
  • Adhering to Company Policies and Procedures with respect to Security, Quality and Health
