Our platform provides unique data solutions to our clients enabling them to make strategic, informed decisions powered by data from real people, collected in a privacy safe way. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Data Platform Engineer who will play a key role in building and supporting our internal data infrastructure.
Our offices are in Trafford Park, Manchester and the role consists of hybrid working, where we ask for our team to be in the office for collaboration and team building 2 days per week. Your primary responsibilities will involve performing DevOps, backend and cloud development on the data infrastructure to develop innovative solutions to effectively scale and maintain the data platform. You will tackle complex data challenges in a fast-paced, exciting environment, leveraging cutting-edge Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies such as Lambda, SageMaker and Bedrock to develop innovative and scalable data solutions.
After a suitable settling in period, you will also join our out of hours on call team, for which you will receive additional compensation. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the data platform, including the performance, architecture and design, and take ownership of the implementation.
- Continually review, measure and monitor the performance of the data platform and evaluate improvements in design, architecture and tooling.
- Design, architect and build internal data platform tooling to enable best practice development and delivery of our data products.
- Contribute to technical discovery by working with stakeholders to clarify problems, challenge assumptions and shape defined requirements before implementation.
- Adhering to Company Policies and Procedures with respect to Security, Quality and Health & Safety.
3+ years of professional Python development experience as a Data Platform Engineer, using AWS.
- Experience developing and deploying Serverless technologies, provisioning Apache Airflow, and using infrastructure as code such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- The ability to be flexible and agile, ready to adapt to changes when things don’t go to plan.
- Knowledge of agile software development best practices including continuous integration, automated testing and working with software engineering requirements and specifications.
- Good interpersonal skills, positive can-do attitude and willing to help other members of the team.
- Understanding of Apache Spark, Apache Trino or other big data and machine learning systems.
- Exposure to using AI tools to enhance productivity and quality of coding, reviews and documentation.
