We're looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Test Engineer to join our Data Products team on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their career who is looking to build hands‑on experience in software testing, QA, and data analysis within a commercial technology environment.
You’ll work alongside experienced members of the team, systematically exploring mobile and desktop applications using our in‑house tooling to identify, capture, and validate key data points. The role offers exposure to a range of technologies, AI‑assisted tools, and testing methodologies, while contributing to real projects that support leading global brands.
This position is ideal for someone who is curious, analytical, and keen to develop their technical skills in a fast‑paced data and technology environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Systematically exercise applications across Android, iOS, and desktop platforms, following defined scenarios and discovering new paths.
- Analyse application behaviour to identify where meaningful data is situated.
- Author and maintain structured data definitions using our AI‑assisted internal tooling – specifying what to capture and how to validate it.
- Verify output accuracy by comparing captured data against expected results across a range of app states and scenarios.
- Maintain and update definitions as applications change, identifying and resolving breakages.
- Build and manage a library of test scenarios to support ongoing development and regression testing.
- Document coverage and findings clearly for the wider team.
- Adhering to Company Policies and Procedures with respect to Security, Quality and Health & Safety.
About You:
- Interest in software testing, quality assurance, technology, or data analysis.
- Some experience in software testing, QA, technical support, data analysis, or a similar analytical role through work, education, placements, or personal projects.
- A curious and methodical approach, with a desire to understand how applications work and identify issues.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot patterns, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Comfortable navigating mobile and desktop applications in a structured and exploratory way.
- Good problem‑solving skills and the ability to break down tasks into logical steps.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings clearly and accurately.
- A self‑motivated approach with a willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and ways of working.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to changing priorities and application updates.
- Good interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues across the business.
- Interest in AI and AI‑assisted tools, with a willingness to learn how they can support testing and data validation activities.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Familiarity with structured data formats such as JSON or XML.
- Experience using Android and/or iOS devices.
- Exposure to software testing tools, app inspection tools, accessibility services, or data extraction workflows.
- Basic understanding of software development, QA processes, or Agile ways of working.
- Experience using AI tools to support research, testing, documentation, or productivity.
