Realityjam is a developer platform and game studio created to transform the way that games are made. We’re building a movement in game culture powered by creative energy to take back control from education institutions that don't deliver employment outcomes and studio gatekeepers who’ve locked UK youth out of game industry careers.

We’ve partnered with Unity, the world’s leading game engine, to create a new pathway for devs and artists to launch their careers and enter the industry by securing entry level roles with our company through an innovative program that combines real work with industry training.

During this program you’ll work as an apprentice (Game Developer or Game Artist) in a junior role alongside Realityjam's game studio team creating remarkable new gameplay experiences and delivering world-class in-game content.

INDUSTRY ACCESS PROGRAM

Our Industry Access Program offers a 2-year apprenticeship program beginning with a 12 month, full-time (30 hours per week), pre-apprenticeship training course to rapidly level up your game creation and Unity skills. We call this the 'Scion' Foundation Course.

Upon completion, step straight into a guaranteed 12-month apprenticeship (4 days per week) as a Junior Game Artist working with tools like Unity and Blender, building game worlds for MMO titles. During the Scion Foundation course, you’ll work on live and in-production games, immersing you in real industrial work while you learn. You’ll receive public attribution and professional credits for the work you add to our games, elevating your professional profile. You’ll monetize the content you contribute to our games including player skins and tradeable game items like vehicles and weapons, generating a passive revenue stream.

SCION COURSE COST

Like many full-time training programs in the UK, the Scion Foundation Course requires participants to pay a fee to join. The cost for the 12-month course is £4740, and student finance via UK government programs will be made available to those who aren't able to afford the course fee.

Your work as an apprentice and your course work during the Scion Foundation course will be managed remotely (you’ll work from home) using Discord and Jira. Three times per year you’ll join a 2-day conference, micro-festival and game jam event where you’ll receive feedback on your work from industry experts while forging bonds with other members of the program.

UNITY CERTIFICATION

During the apprenticeship you’ll also qualify as a Unity Certified Associate and gain a globally recognized certification from Unity as a certified game developer or certified game artist that qualifies you to work anywhere in the world. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll qualify for full-time employment with Realityjam in a Junior role as a game artist or game developer, with employment offers made case-by-case.

VC FUNDING

When you graduate the apprenticeship, you’ll also have the opportunity to secure up to £80,000 in milestone based venture capital funding to build and release your own game with support from Realityjam’s studio team, offering a unique opportunity to bring your creative vision to life. Please note that not all program participants will receive funding offers.

REMUNERATION

The remuneration package paid to apprentices in the second year of the program includes: £17,000 base wage (part-time, 4 days per week) plus holiday pay (22 days per year).
