Are you passionate about electrical installation and inspiring the next generation of electricians? This is your chance to make a real impact – and help build something new from the ground up.
At Smart Energy Training, we deliver high-quality training and apprenticeships across electrical, gas, and renewable sectors – and we’re growing. We’re now launching our new Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship programme and are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Electrical Trainer to support delivery across our Ashbourne and Nottingham sites.
Initially, this role will operate across both locations, supporting growing learner numbers. As demand increases, we plan to expand the team further – creating the opportunity for a dedicated site-based tutor in the future.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering engaging, high-quality training to apprentices in electrical installation
- Planning and delivering structured lessons aligned with qualification standards
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to ensure learners reach their full potential
- Assessing apprentice progress in both classroom and workplace settings
- Carrying out on-site visits to review and assess apprentices in their place of work
- Adapting teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and needs
- Maintaining accurate records of progress, attendance and assessment outcomes
- Working collaboratively with employers and internal teams to support learner success
- Creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment
In addition, you will play a key role in establishing our new electrical training workshops:
- Helping to set up and develop brand-new electrical training areas across our sites to support the delivery of our Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship programme
- Designing workshop layouts to meet assessment requirements, qualification specifications, and industry best practice
- Contributing to the design and development of the apprenticeship curriculum, ensuring learners achieve the relevant qualifications to a high standard
- Ensuring the new programme reflects Smart Energy’s commitment to high-quality training – matching the excellence already delivered in our established gas engineering and renewable programmes
- Supporting the creation of learning materials, assessment activities and practical tasks that go above and beyond minimum expectations, preparing learners for real-world industry environments
What we’re looking for:
- Level 3 or Advanced Craft Certificate in Electrical Installation
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
- Teaching and assessing qualifications (essential)
- Confident communication skills – able to engage apprentices, employers and stakeholders effectively
- Ability to adapt teaching styles to meet individual learning needs
- A patient, supportive and learner-focused approach
Salary and benefits:
- Circa £45,000 plus bonus
- 37.5 hours per week (typically Monday to Friday)
- 25 days’ holiday plus public and bank holidays, including Birthday and Christmas Eve leave
- Career progression and development opportunities as the programme expands
- Supportive and collaborative team culture
- Modern, well-equipped training facilities
- Opportunity to shape and influence a brand-new apprenticeship programme
