The Role
This is a Freelance opportunity for a Publicist / Senior Publicist to join the team and deliver media-first, football-centric campaigns for a major upcoming project. This isn’t a leadership or people management role – it’s a hands-on opportunity to use your media relations expertise and black book of contacts to generate high-impact coverage in national and sports-specific outlets. You'll be helping create and execute campaigns then using media and social media to ensure that work is picked up far and wide. You’ll be embedded into the team, working alongside creative and strategic leads to support the delivery of flagship campaigns. Your focus will be media strategy, sell-ins, and driving earned coverage, particularly across football and broader sports media.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead media relations outreach for an upcoming football-focused campaign, delivering standout earned coverage.
- Use your network of journalist and editorial contacts across sports pages, broadsheets, tabloids, social media, digital platforms and more.
- Shape messaging, angles and content for media in collaboration with the creative team.
- Act as the key day-to-day PR lead, coordinating press engagement and managing media opportunities.
- Ensure all activity is on brand, on message and meets both creative ambition and client expectation.
You will be:
- An experienced PR Account Manager or Media Relations Specialist, ideally with agency background and a strong understanding of the sports landscape.
- A confident operator with a black book of football and sports media contacts across national, digital and consumer press.
- Results-focused and hands-on, ready to roll up your sleeves and drive media outcomes.
- Passionate about football, with a solid grasp of its cultural and commercial relevance.
- Comfortable working quickly and autonomously, and integrating into an agile, high-performing creative team.
