An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) within the Engineering Team in Wigton. CCL Secure are the manufacturers of Guardian©, the world's most sophisticated banknote substrate. Since 1988 they have supplied over 40 central banks across more than 80 denominations. The company operates three manufacturing sites based in the UK, Australia, and Mexico. Millions of people handle their product every day, and they are proud of both their product and the people behind it.
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, this role will support the current multi-skilled engineering team in maintaining a modern plant, while playing a pivotal role in driving process improvements across the site. The role operates on a 12 hour rotating shift pattern (6am - 6pm / 6pm - 6am), working a 38 hour week within a continuous manufacturing environment. There is no scheduled weekend working within the standard shift pattern, however overtime at weekends is available when required.
You will take part in projects and deliver a high standard of maintenance across a variety of modern plant, equipment, and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure plant and equipment is maintained to enable:
- Equipment meets all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Equipment runs at budgeted level of machine uptime.
- Equipment runs at budgeted spoilage and output.
- Ensure all safety requirements are met when working with machinery and/or chemicals.
- Ensure Hazardous area requirements are met including installations, PM’s and dossier.
- Maintain plant and equipment to exceptional standards.
- Ensure work orders and Planned Maintenance are carried out within set timeframes.
- Attend and repair breakdowns within set timeframes.
- Escalate problems that are creating excess downtime.
- Re-design and modify plant and machinery to maximise production outputs.
- Ensure that detailed information is entered into the Maintenance System, including detailed history and downtime.
- Carry out mechanical maintenance duties as required.
- Take part in analysis of maintenance, electrical, mechanical and breakdown history to ensure the PM schedule is aligned to breakdown history.
- Manage or take part in team or individual projects when required.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Engineering qualification; HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with industrial experience.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
- Good working knowledge of key manufacturing processes.
- Adaptability, openness and honesty.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Mechanical knowledge of industrial plant and equipment.
- Hazardous Areas COMPEX 1–4 Qualification.
- Mechanical training will be provided where gaps in knowledge are identified for the right applicant.
