The Job (in a Nutshell)

As a People Advisor, you'll work in partnership with managers, providing practical advice, guidance and coaching on a range of people matters.

You'll help them build the confidence and skills to manage their teams effectively, ensuring our policies are applied fairly and consistently and that our people have a positive experience at work.

You'll support managers across a broad range of People activities, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, absence, wellbeing, organisational change and policy guidance.

No two days are quite the same, and you'll have the opportunity to make a tangible difference to both managers and employees across the Trust.

You'll spend time at our centres and offices, getting to know our teams, building trusted relationships and delivering training that helps managers develop their people management skills.

Because relationships matter in this role, you'll regularly visit our centres and offices across the UK.

This usually means travelling every 4 to 6 weeks and includes occasional overnight stays.

Alongside your People team colleagues, you'll contribute to projects and initiatives that support our People Strategy and help make Outward Bound a great place to work.

  • What You'll Bring
  • Experience in an HR or People Advisor role, providing advice and guidance to managers.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to gain trust and credibility quickly.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and HR systems.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently when needed.
  • Curiosity, resilience and a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience in the charity, education or outdoor sectors would be welcome, but isn't essential.
