About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary schools in North London. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with a student who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, build confidence, and reach their full potential. You’ll work as part of a friendly, experienced team of teachers and support staff, guided by our SENCO and committed to making a positive difference every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support for a student with additional learning needs in and out of class
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies and learning plans
  • Encourage independence, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing
  • Support access to lessons and help adapt learning materials to meet the student’s needs
  • Record progress and contribute to reviews of the student’s EHCP targets

About You

  • Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting young people
  • Able to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Proactive, flexible, and reliable in their approach to supporting learning
  • Experienced working with children or young people with additional needs (desirable, not essential)
  • Educated to GCSE level (including English and Maths)

Experience supporting students with autism, ADHD, or social and emotional needs would be an advantage, but training and guidance will be provided.
