Salary: From £15.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time or part-time opportunities considered, with flexibility required
Location: Weymouth, Dorset
About the Role
Real World Services is looking for an experienced, highly organised and motivated individual to join our management team as Assistant Operations Manager.
Working closely with our Operations Manager, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of our busy security and facilities services business, helping coordinate staff, manage operational requirements and maintain the high standards our clients expect.
This is a varied, hands-on position that combines operational management, administration, staff coordination and client communication.
We’re looking for someone who can think on their feet, remain calm under pressure and take responsibility when challenges arise.
You don’t necessarily need a background in security. If you have experience managing people and operations in another fast-paced environment, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Operations Manager in overseeing daily operations across multiple sites and contracts.
- Coordinate security personnel, including shift planning, scheduling and operational cover.
- Act as a point of contact for staff, clients and operational teams.
- Respond to operational issues, resolve problems and make sound decisions when required.
- Support the management, supervision and performance of operational staff.
- Assist with general administration, reporting and operational record-keeping.
- Attend client sites, meetings and operational visits when necessary.
- Provide management cover during periods of absence and support out-of-hours operational requirements on an agreed rota.
- Help ensure the business continues to deliver a professional, reliable and responsive service.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a supervisory, management or operational coordination role.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence managing people and dealing with different personalities.
- A calm, practical and solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
- Good administrative and IT skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to obtain an appropriate SIA licence if not already held.
- Previous experience in security, facilities management or another operational service industry.
- Experience with staff rostering, scheduling and managing multiple locations.
- Experience handling client relationships and operational incidents.
Training and Development
We recognise that the right management experience doesn’t always come from the security industry.
For candidates with the skills, attitude and experience we’re looking for, we can provide industry-specific training, including support to obtain the necessary SIA licence.
You’ll work closely with our experienced Operations Manager, developing the knowledge and confidence to take greater responsibility within the business.
Working Hours and Flexibility
We are happy to consider both full-time and part-time applicants and can discuss working arrangements with the right candidate.
The role will require some flexibility, including the ability to provide operational management cover when required and participate in agreed out-of-hours support arrangements.
Why Join Real World Services?
This is an opportunity to take on a meaningful role in an established, growing business where your organisational skills, experience and judgement will make a genuine difference.
You’ll enjoy a varied working environment, the opportunity to develop new skills and a position with real responsibility and scope for progression.
If you’re a confident people manager who enjoys solving problems, keeping things organised and making things happen, we’d love to hear from you.
