The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their high-performing pre-construction team. This is a key strategic role, offering the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK. You will play a pivotal role in securing future work, shaping bid strategy, and contributing to the continued growth of a market-leading business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the estimating function on major tenders and frameworks
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, pricing, and bid submissions
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements
  • Develop pricing strategies aligned with wider business objectives
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including commercial, planning, design, and operational teams
  • Identify risks and opportunities within tenders and implement mitigation strategies
  • Mentor and support junior estimators within the team
  • Engage with clients, supply chain partners, and stakeholders during bid phases

About You

  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a Tier 1 or large civil engineering contractor
  • Strong background in infrastructure projects
  • Excellent understanding of UK construction contracts
  • Ability to lead bids and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
