The Opportunity
We are working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their high-performing pre-construction team. This is a key strategic role, offering the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the UK. You will play a pivotal role in securing future work, shaping bid strategy, and contributing to the continued growth of a market-leading business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating function on major tenders and frameworks
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, pricing, and bid submissions
- Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements
- Develop pricing strategies aligned with wider business objectives
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including commercial, planning, design, and operational teams
- Identify risks and opportunities within tenders and implement mitigation strategies
- Mentor and support junior estimators within the team
- Engage with clients, supply chain partners, and stakeholders during bid phases
About You
- Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within a Tier 1 or large civil engineering contractor
- Strong background in infrastructure projects
- Excellent understanding of UK construction contracts
- Ability to lead bids and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
