This is a fantastic opportunity for a Joinery Team Leader with 5 to 10 years experience with strong man management skills and ideally some basic experience of veneering to join a growing organisation in Hertfordshire. This role involves shopfloor management skills to effectively manage new processes and maximise offers to customers.
The forming process is unique for a joinery company, and training will be provided. Success in settling down the processes may lead to expanding the capability of the area by including elements of joinery assembly.
The role entails significant planning and organisation to enhance work visibility. It is a 50% hands-on role, with the remainder focused on managing the area.
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Benefits
Location: Letchworth Garden City – Hertfordshire
Hours: 8am – 4.30pm Mon – Fri / Overtime Saturdays (1 or 2 per month at time and half)
Skills & Experience:
- Joinery background with 5 to 10 years experience.
- Basic knowledge of the veneering process is necessary/preferable.
- No prior knowledge of the forming process is required as full training will be given.
- People management skills are essential due to strong character individuals in the team.
- Rapport building is key to delivering the required work.

Responsibilities:
- Manage a small team of 4 to 6 people covering the veneering and forming processes.
- Veneering:
- Plan the work through the area and keep all schedules up to date.
- Prepare work for veneering by coordinating with other team leaders regarding panel readiness and veneer identification.
- Assist the team across all veneering processes, ensuring quality and delivery meet business standards.
- Maintain a tidy and organised veneering area, clearly identifying and storing veneer layons correctly.
- Manage stock of veneer.
- Forming:
- Plan moulds from CAD drawings issued to the team.
- Glue foam blocks and cut foam using a wire cutting machine.
- Form required curves into the press.
- Prepare work for forming by organising mould cutting and liaising with other team leaders for ply cutting.
- Assist in mould production and curved work production.
- Ensure the forming area is tidy and organised, with clearly labelled moulds that are recycled whenever possible.
- Manage stock of foam.
