As one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers supplying to the commercial sector, my client manufactures fine chemicals and rubber accelerators and has a history spanning over 150 years. With their headquarters in the West Midlands, they are true pioneers within the chemicals industry. With strategic expansion plans, an opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Manager to join them and lead the site’s mechanical and civil engineering function.

Reporting into the Head of Engineering, this Senior role within the organisation will see you taking ownership of maintenance strategy, asset integrity, safety compliance and team leadership in a highly regulated manufacturing environment. The key responsibilities for your new role as Mechanical Manager are as follows:

  • Responsibility for the leadership of the mechanical and civil engineering departments, comprising of 25 members of permanent staff, plus additional Contractors, as and when required by the business.
  • Management of mechanical maintenance.
  • Maintaining and promoting a safe operating culture.
  • Ensuring all aspects of installation and maintenance within the business are run optimally and in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Liaising with team members of all levels within the company, as well as Contractors and external agencies.

My client would like to find someone who is HNC / HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of five years’ experience in supervising / managing the maintenance department within a fast-moving manufacturing environment. You will be an effective communicator, with strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and mentor team members to their full potential.
