Are you a hands-on leader with a sharp eye for both supply chain logistics and shopfloor efficiency? We are looking for a versatile Production & Procurement Manager to take full ownership of our manufacturing lifecycle. This is a pivotal role where you will bridge the gap between international sourcing and high-quality timber case production.
Location: Kings Langley, Watford WD4
Salary: £50,000 - £53,000 + Benefits + possible Car
Position: You will manage everything from procuring softwood and plywood (locally and from overseas) to leading a skilled production team. You'll be responsible for ensuring our manufacturing schedule is met, quality is uncompromised, and our facility operates at peak efficiency.
What you will be doing:
- Sourcing & Buying: Negotiating with domestic and international sawmills to ensure we have the best materials at the best prices.
- Production Excellence: Creating cutting lists, managing workflows between machining and assembly, and hitting KPIs. Using LEAN concept and focused on continuous improvement.
- Team Leadership: Managing labour allocation, mentoring staff, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Compliance: Ensuring we remain leaders in Quality (ISO 9001) and Health & Safety.
- Operational Oversight: Managing site facilities, machinery maintenance, and stock valuations.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a Production Management or Senior Procurement role (ideally within timber or manufacturing).
- Experience handling imports, customs, and international shipping.
- A strong communicator who can liaise with everyone from overseas shippers to shopfloor operators.
- Technical proficiency in production planning and using time-recording systems.
- A "can-do" attitude towards problem-solving and facility maintenance.
