We are working with an established accountancy and business advisory firm to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper for its Nottingham office.

The Opportunity

As a Bookkeeper, you will work closely with a diverse range of clients, maintaining accurate financial records and producing timely management information.

You will develop trusted client relationships while using Xero and other accountancy applications to make financial processes more efficient.

The position combines office-based responsibilities with regular bookkeeping support at client sites, so you should be comfortable working independently and travelling locally when required.

As a Bookkeeper, your responsibilities will include

  • Providing day-to-day bookkeeping support for a varied client portfolio.
  • Building strong and lasting client relationships.
  • Implementing Xero and suitable accountancy applications for clients.
  • Producing accurate and timely management information.
  • Assisting with monthly accounts and management reports.
  • Reconciling balance sheet and profit and loss accounts.
  • Preparing and posting journals for payroll, accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
  • Completing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly supplier payment runs.
  • Managing accounts payable, expenses and credit cards.
  • Supporting accounts receivable and credit control activities.
  • Helping clients improve their financial processes and supporting their businesses to thrive.

About You

This opportunity would suit an experienced and approachable Bookkeeper who takes pride in delivering accurate work and excellent client service.

You will ideally have

  • A full AAT qualification or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar bookkeeping position.
  • Good working knowledge of Xero, Microsoft Excel and accountancy applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A positive and professional approach to working with clients.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • An interest in technology and improving financial processes.
  • A genuine desire to continue learning and developing.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to client sites.
