My client is looking for a Land Manager with a minimum of 2 years experience in commercial, purpose built student accommodation, and roadside retail developments across the UK.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Land Manager to join a recognised local company. The main purpose of the role is to identify and secure opportunities on appropriate contractually and commercially sound terms across multiple asset classes, predominantly in the PBSA or roadside retail space.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Land Identification

  • Maintain a high-profile with external property contacts by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with local authorities, agents, and landowners.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the mixed-use strategy of the business.

Land Appraisal

  • Develop and maintain a full understanding of the appraisal system and the various internal procedures involved in investigating, reporting and purchasing land.
  • Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of the planning system and working closely with the planning and technical teams and external consultants, be highly involved in the planning process, monitoring site progress through to consent.

Land Acquisition

  • With minimal day-to-day supervision, responsible for acquiring land opportunities within and developing a detailed knowledge of development opportunities and competitor activity.
  • Enter negotiations and formulate offers to pursue land opportunities in order to meet the company land requirements.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of all technical aspects covering the acquisition and development of land and associated legal agreements.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of legal issues.
  • Formulate offers, co-ordinate investigations, negotiate with local authorities, agents and lawyers, in order to produce contracts for signature. With minimum supervision, for unconditional/conditional contracts, responsible for overseeing the project until legal completion and for liaising with all internal departments accordingly.

Land Manager requirements

  • Experience in PBSA or roadside retail development is essential.
  • Personable, with the ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders.
  • Good collaborator that can also work well independently.
  • Knowledgeable in project management.
  • Good critical thinking skills.
  • Competent in the full suite of MS Office products.
  • Demonstrates initiative and innovative thinking.
  • Technical knowledge to a practical level and with good financial/commercial acumen.
  • Resilient and can manage pressure well.
