The Role:

The Senior Design Manager will lead multidisciplinary design delivery from preconstruction through construction and handover, ensuring design information is coordinated, buildable, compliant and aligned with programme, commercial, quality and client objectives.

Experience & Qualifications required of the Senior Design Manager:

Must Haves:

  • Extensive senior level Design Management experience on major construction projects
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams from preconstruction through to completion
  • Strong knowledge of buildability, constructability and technical compliance
  • Experience managing design governance, programme, risk and commercial performance
  • Proven value engineering and design optimisation experience
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management capability
  • Experience developing and mentoring design management capability
  • Construction, architecture or engineering qualification

Highly Desirable:

  • Main contractor background, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor
  • Data centre, defence, pharmaceutical, nuclear or other mission critical project experience

Desirable:

  • Strong BIM knowledge and digital design management experience
  • Chartered status or progress towards chartership
  • Working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
