About the role

The HR Business Partner role is a strategic role designed to work closely with leadership and management teams in England to align HR strategies with organisational goals. The HR Business Partner will act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on all people-related matters, including workforce development, talent management, employee relations, and performance management. The role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, particularly in supporting complex case work, delivering HR training and development, ensuring HR initiatives drive outcomes and foster a positive workplace culture.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with managers and leaders to inform the HR strategy for each area of the organisation
  • Work with stakeholders to identify key HR challenges
  • Use evidence and data to identify HR priorities for the organisation and address future workforce needs
  • Provide expert HR guidance for acquisitions, restructures and service closures
  • Bring HR expertise and develop solutions to help each area to deliver its strategy
  • Partner with managers to create robust Workforce Development Plans, using data to identify trends, opportunities for growth, and areas of concern
  • Work with senior managers to identify and nurture future leaders within the organisation
  • Plan and support the delivery of change programmes
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, ensuring fair and consistent practices
  • Advise and support on complex employee relations cases and long term absence
  • Act as point of escalation for HR Advisors and senior managers on complex or higher risk HR issues
  • Line management of two HR Advisors

Qualifications and Skills

  • CIPD Level 7 preferred or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proven experience as HR Business Partner or similar role, ideally within the charity or social care sector
  • Demonstrable experience in employee relations, including case management and investigations
  • Background in delivering HR projects and organisational development initiatives
  • Design and delivery of training and development activities
