We are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at the Longstone Housing Support Service. This is a meaningful role where you will support adults with complex needs to live fulfilling, independent lives in a homely, supportive environment.
About the Service
The Longstone service consists of two Houses of Multiple Occupancy (HMOs), each supporting four men with a range of needs, including:
- Learning Disabilities
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- Epilepsy
- Physical Disabilities (including wheelchair users)
- Limited or non-verbal communication
Support within the service includes the use of tracking and manual hoists for transfers. All hoisting and medication administration is carried out by two staff members at all times.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Support Worker at Real Life Options, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing full or minimal support with personal care, including the use of hoists
- Supporting with meal planning, food shopping, preparation, and eating/drinking
- Administering medication and managing finances in line with policy and procedures
- Completing household tasks such as cleaning shared areas (kitchen, bathroom, lounge, utility)
- Promoting and supporting daily community-based activities β such as local walks, appointments, shopping and new leisure opportunities
- Maintaining accurate and timely records, including medication records, health monitoring charts, cleaning schedules, and activity plans
- Supporting individuals with behaviours that may challenge, by following structured support plans
Working Hours and Flexibility
Shifts: 08:00β15:00 and 15:00β22:00
Optional long shift: 08:00β22:00
You will be required to work 5 out of 7 days, including days, evenings and weekends. Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the people we support.
