Position Goal: Under general supervision, provides assistance to a Pre-Kindergarten teacher and assists in the implementation of classroom programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews instructional plans with the classroom teacher in order to implement daily instruction.
- Assists in planning and arranging a physical classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assists in making available teaching materials as needed by the teacher.
- Assists children during learning and planned activity time as new materials are introduced.
- Reinforces materials introduced by the teacher.
- Assists in supervising field trips, walking tours and bus trips.
- Assists in making arrangements for speakers to come into the classroom.
- Participates in in-service training programs.
- Participates in parental conferences.
- Assists in carrying out the classroom activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent. Bilingual – English and Spanish Required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a desk/table for limited periods of time. Stand for limited/extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach and grasp. The employee must occasionally do lifting – up to 15 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Inside year round – classroom setting.
