SEND Specialist Teacher – Wilson Primary School
We are seeking a SEND Specialist Teacher to lead the Pathways class at Wilson Primary School as part of the Federation of Oxford Road Community School & Wilson Primary School. Pathways is a small class provision for children with communication and interaction difficulties, including autism. Footsteps is a small, nurturing provision offering a calm, predictable environment with small-group, specialised teaching and learning opportunities.
This role would be ideal for you if you are passionate about working with children with SEND, enthusiastic, solution-focused, calm, and a team player.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Pathways class for children with SEND, particularly those with ASD.
- Form positive relationships with children and parents through excellent communication.
- Develop and implement learning programmes.
- Liaise with external agencies and a range of professionals.
- Coordinate the work of support staff.
- Contribute with a growth mindset and a patient, kind, and caring approach.
Qualifications and attributes
- Experience of working with children with SEND, in particular with ASD.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to form positive relationships with children and parents.
- Experience developing programmes of learning.
- Experience liaising with external agencies and professionals.
- Experience coordinating the work of support staff.
