SEND Specialist Teacher – Wilson Primary School

We are seeking a SEND Specialist Teacher to lead the Pathways class at Wilson Primary School as part of the Federation of Oxford Road Community School & Wilson Primary School. Pathways is a small class provision for children with communication and interaction difficulties, including autism. Footsteps is a small, nurturing provision offering a calm, predictable environment with small-group, specialised teaching and learning opportunities.

This role would be ideal for you if you are passionate about working with children with SEND, enthusiastic, solution-focused, calm, and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Pathways class for children with SEND, particularly those with ASD.
  • Form positive relationships with children and parents through excellent communication.
  • Develop and implement learning programmes.
  • Liaise with external agencies and a range of professionals.
  • Coordinate the work of support staff.
  • Contribute with a growth mindset and a patient, kind, and caring approach.

Qualifications and attributes

  • Experience of working with children with SEND, in particular with ASD.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to form positive relationships with children and parents.
  • Experience developing programmes of learning.
  • Experience liaising with external agencies and professionals.
  • Experience coordinating the work of support staff.
