Overview

Required for January 2026 – Wilson Primary School

The Federation of Oxford Road Community School & Wilson Primary School is happy, nurturing and highly ambitious. We are a thriving Federation with two SEND classrooms (Pathways & Footsteps) on the Wilson site (and two SEND classrooms on the Oxford Road site).

Pathways is a small class provision for children with communication and interaction difficulties, including Autism. Footsteps is a small, nurturing provision offering a predictable, calm, purposeful environment for those children who would benefit from small group, specialised teaching and learning opportunities.

We are looking to appoint an individual, who is passionate about working with children with SEND, to lead the class. Someone who is enthusiastic, fun, solution focused, calm and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the class for pupils with SEND, with a focus on communication and interaction difficulties, including ASD.
  • Communicate effectively with children and parents and form positive relationships.
  • Develop programmes of learning for pupils and liaise with external agencies and a range of other professionals.
  • Coordinate the work of support staff.
  • Maintain a growth mind-set and adopt a patient, kind and caring approach.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Experience of working with children with SEND, in particular with ASD.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to form positive relationships with children and parents.
  • Experience developing programmes of learning.
  • Experience liaising with external agencies and professionals.
  • Experience coordinating the work of support staff.
  • Growth mindset; patient, kind and caring disposition.
